Riskdisclosure
Read this before you invest. Investing carries real risk of loss, and no part of the Bayse platform removes that risk.
You can lose money
The value of shares and REIT units can fall as well as rise. You may get back less than you invested, and in the case of a company failure you may lose the entire amount invested in that company.
Market risk
Prices move with company performance, interest rates, inflation, currency movements, government policy and general sentiment. Short-term movements can be sharp and are not predictable.
Liquidity risk
Some listed securities trade in small volumes. You may not be able to sell quickly at the price you see, and large orders can move the price against you.
Dividend risk
Dividends and REIT distributions are not guaranteed. A company or trust can reduce or skip a payout at any time.
Concentration risk
Holding one or two companies exposes you to the fortunes of those businesses alone. Spreading across sectors reduces, but does not remove, this risk.
Currency and inflation risk
Returns are earned in naira. Inflation and exchange rate movements can reduce the real value of both your capital and your income.
Derivatives risk
Derivatives use leverage: a small amount of capital controls a much larger exposure. Losses can exceed the amount you initially committed and can accumulate quickly. Access requires a suitability assessment and is not appropriate for most first-time investors.
Operational and partner risk
Execution and custody depend on licensed third-party partners, market infrastructure and payment systems. Delays or failures in those systems can affect the timing of orders, settlement and payouts.
